阿道斯赫胥黎曾於三十年代發表《美麗新世界》(Brave New World),書中刻劃的是一個超穩定的超自然的世界, 在探討穩定的代價時(the cost of stability), 其以野蠻人的身份代入一個以科學和機械統治的世界, 進一步抨擊穩定主義、階級主義等一切被極端非人性化的法西斯社會, 是一本與《一九八四》比肩的傑出作品. 此書出版二十七年後, 共產政權紛紛敗下陣來, 然而又萌生了令一種令赫胥黎這個"野蠻人"感到不適的現像,也是現代資本主義社會的弊端. 赫胥黎再度發表了《Brave New World Revisited》, 為那些被批量生產蠶食的人類文明吶喊.
