葛瑞汉（1919—1991）,当代英国著名汉学家和哲学家。1919年生于威尔士；早年就读于牛津大学；二战期间在英国皇家空军服役,曾在伦敦大学亚非学院接受日语培训,并被派往马来西亚、泰国等地担任日文翻译；退役后重返亚非学院学习中文,1950年毕业后留校任教,1953年获博 士学位,历任讲师,教授；1981年当选为英国学术院院士；1991年病逝。《泰晤士报》称他为：“世界公认的中国哲学和语言研究的重要权威,中国哲学与诗词的天才翻译家,把中国古代的生活理念介绍给西方的杰出阐释者。”
