记者拍下特朗普讲话稿,发现“新冠病毒”被故意修改

US President Donald Trump's notes from Thursday's briefing show deliberate altering of the word "Corona" in coronavirus with the word "Chinese".

Close-up photos of Trump's prepared remarks for Thursday's White House news briefing on the novel coronavirus show part of the phrase "Corona Virus" was crossed out and replaced with "Chinese".

This picture captured by Washington Post photographer comes as Trump has stepped up his efforts to scapegoat China for the spread of the coronavirus.

The World Health Organization on Wednesday condemned Trump's use of the term "Chinese virus", saying officials should use the scientific terms coronavirus or COVID-19.

"Viruses know no borders, and they don't care about your ethnicity, the color of your skin, or how much money you have in the bank," said Mike Ryan, the executive director of WHO's emergencies program. "So it's really important we be careful in the language we use, lest it lead to the profiling of individuals associated with the virus."

Also on Wednesday, Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton pursued Trump on Twitter, saying he is using "racist rhetoric to distract from his failures".

"The president is turning to racist rhetoric to distract from his failures to take the coronavirus seriously early on, make tests widely available, and adequately prepare the country for a period of crisis," Clinton tweeted. "Don't fall for it. Don't let your friends and family fall for it."

Asian Americans have reported experiencing racism and physical abuse because of the false perception that China is the cause of the virus, according to a Business Insider report.
